The beginning of the story starts from Golosaria with incredible news: a selection of one hundred Italian wines is on display and the final ranking of “Top Hundred” sees a small and practically unknown winery in the Macerata area excel, the “Podere Sabbioni” with its “Colli Maceratesi Ribona DOC”. The proverb that states… Good wine is in small barrels!
“Who is he?”, wrote Manzoni. We turn the question to Maria Grazia Sagretti and Massimo Carletti, respectively owner of the company (Imac Società Agricola srl) and sommelier as well as winemaker.
Who are you? – “We are people who place trust in what we believe to be founding values in today’s society. That is to say that we believe in the sustainability of agricultural techniques that has a positive impact on the territory, we believe in respect for our centuries-old traditions and therefore in the identity of our culture and, finally, in the inclusion of work and people”.
How did the idea of “making a winery” come about? – “Here, for over a century there has been a family mill that grinds wheat and produces flour, it is an important structure that uses the water of the Fiastra river to produce the electricity with which the machinery moves, a fundamental prerequisite if seen from the perspective of respect for the environment. Here there are the suitable spaces to set up a winery, then there is the passion of the winemaker, mixed with culture and experience”.
